NeuBuilt is a combination of two words, from the German and English languages: the mother tongues of Bani Bannwart and Chris Meighan. They are researching the contemporary developments in our economy, ecology, and surroundings. Everywhere around you are construction works and cranes, in the cities and even in the countryside; everything seems always to be moving. "400 new houses coming soon! Marvellous views from your super-deluxe kitchen!" People seem to accept this without comment. We wish to question this. Is it necessary? How far can it go? Will our quality of life really be improved? Or are we simply causing more pollution, deforestation, and rising sea levels? How is this phenomenon to be connected with our everyday lives? In actuality our projects are virtual. NeuBuilt and its activities are not harmful to the environment. Through developing ambitious but serious development projects we hope to place once again question marks where questions could in the past be posed. We look from another standpoint than the usual developers of construction projects. We look for what is actually necessary, or indeed not necessary. By remaining independent of clients and sources of financial support we are able to offer a refreshing and new look at the phenomenon of large scale construction. |
